How do I audition for the Cheerleading team?

I’m in grade 9. I’m not very good at hand-eye coordination sports, but I really want to join cheerleading this year. What do I have to do to try out? Would I have to make a routine? By my self?

And when is cheerleading season?

Please help. It is much appreciated.
Around when will they begin? My middle school didn’t have cheerleading, but most of the sports in this high school you can be just a beginner at.

High school cheerleading is very extreme.
Back in middle school, my school’s cheerleading team was VERY advanced and went to nationals.
You have to be extremely good!
So you must have good coordination.

    It depends.
Sometimes, coaches want cheerleaders to show creativity and create a cheer
Some coaches assign cheers to perform.

    Cheerleading is year-round.

Well I will tell you how my tryouts went.
It was actually called a clinic and after
the clinic we had our actual tryouts.

First we went over basic arm motions
and jumps to see where everyone was at.
Then we had a rally to see if everyone had spirit.
Then we learned a cheer, a chant, and a dance.

If your not good at picking up things than cheer
may come across as being really difficult.
You have to learn lots of routines, cheer, chants,
and dances and you have to learn them quick.

But don’t give up. Me personally I never actually cheered
on a cheer team before. I was in gymnastics for a while
and I went to all of my best-friends cheer games and
practices and competitions so I learned stuff from her.
This year is my actual first year of cheering on a team.
So yea if I made the team I’m sure you can to.
    Just make sure you:

1.) Have facials: make sure you smile and seem overly energetic
2.) Stay stiff: while doing arm motions make sure you hit them tight and make them look stiff. This makes the motion look way better. If your not familiar with arm motions its ok, just go on google and youtube and they will easily tell you. Sometimes your cheer coach/judge will go over it before the actual tryouts but if not it’s best to find out on your own.
3.) Pay attention: Make sure you really pay attention when they are teaching you a cheer, chant, dance, routines, etc. They usually teach really fast so give it your undivided attention!
4.)Stretch: Before the actual day of tryouts or clinic make sure you stretch in advanced. If not you will regret it later because you will be very sore and not able to perform as well as you would if you weren’t sore.
5.) Don’t show that you messed up: On the actual tryout day when they ask you to peform what you learned and you mess up, don’t look around, cry, run out the gym (or wherever try outs are held) or just stop. Keep going, make up something, try to catch up, or just rally it out. Coaches/Judges are really pushy about this because they like to see if you can think on you feet. Usually because if you forget something in a competition you can’t just stop.
6.) Lastly, Don’t give up: Don’t ever give up! Even if you think you suck, Coach/Judges mainly look for potential!

Cheer-leading is usually year round and it is really fun!
    Especially cheer camp!

    Good luck! Hope this helped!!!

Dont listen to those other guys. If you really wanted to do cheerleading. First find out how extreme the cheerleading teams are. My schools cheerleading ***** and they would take anyone. Go to student services or office and ask when the practices are held or get the coaches phone number and ask if they are still accepting people for cheerleading. Hope u get in cheer leading
    GOOD LUCK

Cheerleading is a year round sport!

I am in 7th grade and iam a cheerleader
our school has got first in nationals.

for our tryouts we were tought a cheer a dance and we had to do two jusmps of our choice.

    we have tryouts in April

    STRECH, STRECH, STRECH
you need to be SHARP and I would advise having your splits.
    practice your JUMPS and
    PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!!!!!!!!!

this was my first year cheering and I had the highest score!
I did the things above and thats it!!!

(not sure if your school requires and gymnastics/tumbling i would find out though)
